Bandabou is the rural west of Curaçao. It runs from Grote Berg to Westpunt, the village at the island's north-western tip, about 35 km from Willemstad. The land is hilly and green, with a rugged landscape. The north coast is steep and rough, so the beaches are on the south and west coast, in small bays such as Grote Knip, Playa Kalki, Playa Jeremi, Playa Lagun and Playa Kas Abao. Westpunt is known for its diving.
Much of the west is nature. Christoffelpark, the largest nature park on Curaçao, has the island's highest point, the Christoffelberg, and eight hiking trails. On the north coast, Shete Boka National Park protects the bays where sea turtles lay their eggs. Old plantation houses such as Landhuis Kenepa and Savonet are part of the landscape.
